Ibanez UE-305

29 March 2010 No Comment

The Ibanez UE-305 effects unit was produced in the early 1980s.  It’s a compressor, analog delay, and chorus combo that is similar to Ibanez’s AD-9 product.  It produces some very subtle compression effects that sound amazing and, when combined with the chorus and analog delay, can be mixed to create many different sound variations and combinations.  The analog delay is quite warm and very smooth, while the compression squashes the sound exactly where it needs to be squashed, but it doesn’t over-do it.  If you go a bit too far with the delay, however, it starts to sound a little too much like a reverb, so don’t go overboard.

Controlling the unit is very simple, although it looks a little complicated at first.  Basically, the UE-305 is three pedals connected together.  There’s a master switch that turns the unit on, plus each unit has its own on/off switch.  Power up the pedal, turn on which of the effect you want, and use the individual control knobs to adjust your sound.  It’s very quick and easy.  The UE-305 works very well with any style of music.  You can find this pedal for anywhere from $80 to $300.
